When I wrote my very first grant proposal, it was for $1,250—to purchase bike helmets. That simple, three-page request took me a long time to write. Why? Because I had no training, no clear story, and no guidance on what funders were really looking for.
Since then, I’ve secured significantly larger grants—including a $1 million award from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and $100,000 from Rotary International.
